Powered Rangers
There is another area of seeming, a “genuine seeming” where for example a child imitates his heroic model. He does not only emulate the heroic acts of his model over his enemies but his good relationship with other heroes. A case of associating himself for example with “super friends” or band of “power rangers” is an authentic manifestation of not pretending but being and being in the company or relation with others
Contrary to tale, they were neither summoned nor conferred with power. They just discovered they could freely leap, tumble around and somersault. They had imaginary enemies on bed sheets, walls, ceiling, toilet, almost everywhere but nowhere. The sleeping room had been transformed into a rumpus room where one could see pillows piled as bunker or stuck in a bowl and blankets littering the floor or improvised as makeshift tent. Bra-tat-tat-tat-ttttt, tsug-tsug-tsug-tsug mixed with the sound of ray guns and lightning bolts – a real pandemonium. This is the trade off, of sort, when children are kept in a room while adults don’t want to be disturbed talking about the effect of economic crunch, dealing with relatives and raising children.
Children cannot be confined in any place, they can always find freedom with there imagination.
Matthew and Lj met for the first time as cousins. But I believe there is nothing special with the bloodline, it is all about being children and children like to play. Lj presented his arsenal of toys which they cast all over the place. He is the older one but found his equal with Matthew. Lj, who is used to smooch, would attempt one on Matthew but the latter always pulled back and cringed with an expression, “ewww”. I used to worry how they behaved inside the room but I was reminded that children are more prone to accident when adults are interfering. They have their own momentum and calculations.
At lost how to pacify their impish spirits, we committed the greatest error. We allowed them to view “power rangers”. The disk ran non-stop for the rest of the morning, resumed after lunch and then replayed the next day. We thought they would be stuck on the tube but the more it fed their imagination to enter the world of the power rangers. Mathew was transformed into the “blue ranger” from Down Under while Lj as the “red ranger” from the Land of Promise, and when Ysa entered the room she became the “yellow ranger” and I, who was around, also became the “black ranger”. Be wary, the team had been formed. Then the yellow ranger left, perhaps, confused about the two other rangers who quarreled on what color to don. Well, Lj eventually settled as the red ranger. I thought we went against the same enemy but the two remaining rangers gagged on the black ranger. The black ranger suffered some identity and age crisis while busy parrying attacks. When the blue ranger started to fly down from the upper deck and the red ranger attempted a head stand, the black ranger was unnerved and regained his consciousness, doused with so much concern – but helpless. When there was a call for dining and outings only then that the action could be stopped.
We let go of the rangers’ adventures inside their world-room thinking that they would soon regain their true identities. But we were again wrong, the power rangers went more equipped and prepared for the next episodes. But this time they were wrong because they would be facing a formidable enemy that would sour their bonding. “Bakugan” arrived! There were four of them in different colors. The rangers split their number and quarreled on the bigger Bakugan. The red ranger got hold of it first to the dismay of the blue ranger. The former could not be persuaded anymore to give away the contested Bakugan in his hold. The two rangers did not fire ray guns at each other but exchanged grouchy faces. Their bond as power rangers was broken since then. Finally, we found relief.
