Look up! Is it a star?

Lj pointed to a “star” spider scampering for cover after being disturbed by the swinging. “Stars” are the kind of spider with exoskeletons. It is unique but unfortunately lacks exposure in the insect journals. They gorge on fruit flies and consider mango tree as their favorite hang-out. As kids, during summer when they are so many, overlapping webs on trees, we gathered them in match boxes and compared colors. It seems their backs don some kind of a colorful but threatening mask, perhaps to scare predators.
