Showy Gecko

Ewww! “Tokwu!”! Giant lizards!? You can seldom see lizards at night because these creatures roam the ceilings and walls of the house. At midnight you will be awaken by the squeaking of mice in the ceiling. “Tokwu” hunt their hatchling and feast on them. When the mother mouse arrives, they would try to make a hefty meal of each other! Of course “Tukwo” always wins. They are very useful in warding off rodents and pest inside the house since their favorite meal is mice hatchling and take cockroaches for snack and poor lizards for delicacies. On trees, they are also very brutal on nestling. When I see them in other places, I usually catch and take them home. I once missed one on the back and got bitten. Its jaws with jagged teeth clamped hard in the skin of my palm. It only relaxed its jaws when i placed something hot on its belly. I enjoy listening to their rough voice when calling their mates – tokkkkwuuuuuuuuuu! In less than a minute or so, the other talks back – tokkkkwuuuuuuuuu. And the kids will stop teasing each other and start pulling their blankets over their heads. It’s time to sleep. The night is theirs.
